Car’s Engine Stalling. If the crank position sensor is going bad but still functional at times, the vehicle’s engine may start normally but then rough idle on other occasions. It could also be hard starting the car, or you may feel more intense engine vibrations when you start the car. In some cases, you could have an engine misfire.
The sensor itself will cost between $8.00 and $49.00 (US) on Amazon. Labor will run between $60.00 and $180.00 depending on the location of the sensor. Let's Get Started. Start by locating the sensor which can be done by inspecting the engine at looking for any sensor at the lower level that matches the new sensor you have just purchased.
This video shows you how to install a new crankshaft position sensor on your 2007-2017 Ford Expedition. Once the sensor is installed, you will need to use a manufacturer scan tool to perform

Hi Guys Been trying to find out where my crankshaft position sensor is to see how best to access it. Couldn't see it easily, I imagine the plastic covers are hiding it, also had a look online for images etc.. but no joy. many thanks in advance :) Mk1 (2004) 1.6 focus FYDB
This article sponsored by. This article applies to the Ford F-150 (2004-2014) and the F-250, F-350 Super Duty (2005-2014). A crankshaft position sensor sends information about the position of the crankshaft in your Ford F-150 or Super Duty truck to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
I know the sensor bolts on in one position and I used a genuine ford part, the cam sensor is generic. The reason I'm looking for this info is, I am using an AEM stand alone ems and it's getting a sparadic signal from the crank sensor and the air gap is 0.080 - 0.090" too big according to the aem tuner.
On our 2000 ford escort zx2 the camshaft position sensor was located right below the oil cap. All it took was a 8mm ratchet. CAUTION: Syncro Positioning Tool T95T-12200-A (303-529) must be obtained prior to installation of the replacement synchronizer assembly.
The camshaft position sensor consists of three wires; one for voltage and the other two wires are ground and signal wire (the signal wire goes to the computer from the sensor). This voltage is very low; an amplifier circuit (transistor) is built up in the sensor to amplify the voltage. The reference voltage is the voltage, which is given by the
The crankshaft position sensor measures the crankshaft’s speed and position using a toothed wheel located on your vehicle’s crankshaft or harmonic balancer. The data gathered by the sensor is compared to learned reference point values that take into account slight tolerance variations between the crankshaft position sensor and crankshaft.

Inside the engine, the crankshaft and camshaft are held together by a timing belt or timing chain, which keeps them synchronized. The CKP and CMP sensors work together to keep the PCM informed about engine timing. Should the timing be off, the PCM will set a code P0017. This code stands for Crankshaft Position – Camshaft Position Correlation
Focus. 2000. The crankshaft position sensor in a 2000 Ford Focus is located at the base of the engine block and there is a plastic cover that is over it. This has the job of monitoring where the crankshaft is in its rotation in the engine. The sensor can send signals to Your ECU to allow it to speed up or reduce the timing as necessary.
